ADAI is a private, non-profit organisation linked to the Mechanical Engineering Department of the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Coimbra, which promotes research, development, training and service activities. ADAI also aims to foster technical and scientific collaboration between its members and with other national or foreign entities, in the search for technically based answers and solutions to problems facing the environment, industry and society, namely in defence of their sustainability, safety and well-being. Within the scope of its areas of expertise, ADAI's main objectives are: The creation and promotion of scientific and technological infrastructures for the industrial area, the safety area, forestry protection and firefighting, and the industrial safety area; Advanced technical, technological and scientific training for companies' human resources; The promotion and carrying out of fundamental and applied research that promotes increased business competitiveness through energy efficiency and safety in industrial companies, companies with forestry economic activity, firefighting and fire prevention companies and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) companies; The provision of specialised and innovative services to companies in the aforementioned areas of economic activity.
